During this session, participants will experience from the student lens ELA and Math review games. Participants will be provided the research that supports the use of games as learning experiences and engage in professional discourse about implementation and barriers. Participants will leave with a bank of templates for other games.
According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, a routine is a regular procedure or habitual performance. We teach and model procedures and expectations as part of our classroom culture, but what if we also taught students HOW to approach a new piece of text in content areas other than reading with a reading routine. This session will model and guide participants through a set of engagement strategies that establish reading routines for vocabulary, comprehension and text analysis. *This session is planned for teachers who are not ELA teachers.
