Friday February 14, 2025 8:30am - 9:20am EST
John Dewey said, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."  Explore myFutureNC's county profile data to learn how education, business and government partners are collaborating to lift the value of education and workforce in Caldwell County.  Discuss the role that educators must play in this work, identify ways your ideas can be shared with community leaders, and consider how we might encourage educational attainment for students and their families.

Creating Reading Routines LIMITED
Friday February 14, 2025 10:30am - 11:20am EST
According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, a routine is a regular procedure or habitual performance.  We teach and model procedures and expectations as part of our classroom culture, but what if we also taught students HOW to approach a new piece of text in content areas other than reading with a reading routine.  This session will model and guide participants through a set of engagement strategies that establish reading routines for vocabulary, comprehension and text analysis. *This session is planned for teachers who are not ELA teachers.
