In this session attendees will learn about the benefits of using art and creative products as a means to increase student engagement, enhance critical thinking skills, and improve writing skills. By incorporating fine arts into the chemistry content, students engage both the analytical and creative parts of their brains thereby increasing retention, recall, and comprhension of the abstract concepts of chemistry. In this session, I'll be presenting on five art products to be use in concert with whatever pedagocical approach the teacher is already using in their chemistry content. The products align with content standards in density, properties of matter, polarity, reactions, and photons. If time allows, teachers will get to try out one of the art projects with a make-and-take activity.
